The name of the hotel is derived from part of the Rothschild family coat of arms, the five arrows representing the five sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, the founder of the dynasty.
Each of the attractively decorated bedrooms at the Five Arrows has its en suite bath or shower, direct dial telephone, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities.

In the Courtyard Stables there are two suites, the Garden Room with its Victorian brass four poster bed, comfortable sitting room furniture and open fire, and the colourful Colonial Suite, which has a separate sitting room with a convertible sofa bed, making the suite ideal for family occupancy. Breakfasts can be served in the suites if required.

Hartwell House, lying in the vale of Aylesbury and just forty miles north west of London, is one of Buckinghamshire's most celebrated country houses. Built in the early seventeenth century for the Hampden family, the house has both Jacobean and Georgian features with outstanding decorative plaster-work and panelling. Its fine elegant reception and dining rooms create the ambience of a great country house. The forty-six bedrooms, including those in the adjacent Hartwell court, are individually furnished with prints, pictures and antiques. The Hartwell Court, formerly a coach house, has been restored and extended to provide excellent conference and meeting rooms, with Hartwell Spa offering an indoor swimming pool and an extensive range of exercise possibilities and beauty treatments.

Owned and restored by Historic House Hotels, who also own Bodysgallen Hall in North Wales, and Middlethorpe Hall in York, Hartwell House is a member of Pride of Britain, has 4 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes from the AA, also a Gold Ribbon from the RAC.

Le Manoir aux Quatr' Saisons

Set in the beautiful surroundings of a 15th century manor house hotel, this luxurious restaurant was the creation of Raymond Blanc, the head chef. The great service and wonderful food (fresh, organic vegetables grown in the restaurant's garden), make this a truly special experience that must be followed by a relaxing walk through the house's spectacular gardens.
